Ole Horn Rasmussen, Michael Fast & Mogens Sparre Abstract: Participatory Action Research (PAR) has a longer academic history compared with the idea of business models (BMs). This paper paper indicates how industries gain by using the combined methodology. Using both established and newly developed tools the paper presents how. Theory and data from two different research groups are presented and it is demonstrated how industry has been helped in their business model innovation process (BMIP). The paper has 2 main targets. First, it is demonstrated how two different kind of data collection based upon different notions of PAR has worked and created results. Second, it is discussed how an integration of the two different approaches into each other may improve the BMIP in industries in the future in order to strengthen the element of strategy. The second point addresses both the theories behind the two approaches and discusses how different perspectives call for diversity in the use of Business Model Innovation Strategies
