Beskrivelse

Merete Monrad, associate professor at Aalborg University, Denmark, will discuss client participation in social and employment services in the context of active labor market policies and the Danish welfare state. The presentation is based on a current research project termed LISES: Local Innovation in Social and Employment Services that examines social and employment services delivered to vulnerable clients in Danish municipalities and the role of and implications for the client in this process. In particular, potentials for actual client participation and empowerment of the client are examined. The project is based on case studies of six municipalities where client participation in the delivery of active labor market policies is examined through observations of institutional interactions between social workers and clients, qualitative interviews with clients and discussions with front line workers through "learning platforms".
