reCreate is a global inter-disciplinary center that focuses on developing and exploring frameworks for learning through integration of mind, body and technology.

The reCreate center is at an initial stage and is currently focusing on developing the areas of research into creative immersive learning and mind-tools at several levels of the educational system. reCreate initiates research activities and enters into collaboration with national and international partners in relation to the vision and mission for the center. reCreate is based at Aalborg University – Copenhagen in Sydhavnen at the Department of Learning and Philosophy, and in Aalborg as well. The research in the center will contribute to the development of existing educations as well as new educational initiatives at  Aalborg University. The center will engage researchers from the educational sciences, medialogy, computer science, psychology, architecture, neuroscience, applied philosophy and music therapy.

Vision

The center will be a change agent in relation to innovation in education, developing concepts that are integrative of mind and body, and provide platforms for mindful interaction between self, others, the environment and society.

The center will develop meaningful frameworks for educating learners and provide learners with tools to engage mindfully and compassionately with others and society through an awareness of multiple perspectives and development of empathy and imagination.

Immersion is the interaction between the learner and the environment engaging all senses in an integrative mind/body experience.

The center will scientifically explore and develop designs for immersive and mindful education and provide a basis for the evaluation of immersive, creative and mindful learning. The center will operate in a Global perspective with an overarching goal of developing concepts for mindful and creative learning that are validated scientifically in diverse cultures in order to obtain maximum impact on the learning and development of human potential in the 21st century.

Mission

The concept of mindful awareness and creative learning draws on universal values of self-expression, empowerment, freedom and full development of the human potential and is linked to the overall well-being of the individual and the balance of society. It is therefore a natural mission for the center to develop designs and tools for mindful, immersive and creative learning and to provide scientific validation that enables the integration of these concepts into all levels of formal and informal education, and into the culture and values of society. reCreate provides a platform for quality research and education evolving creative solutions for mindful, balanced, compassionate and stress-free well-being of individuals and society.

Objective

  • To develop learning experiences and explore the mind-sets, environments, artifacts and technologies that enhances immersion, creativity and mindful awareness.
  • To create an institution of excellence in research, learning and teaching in the area of mind and body for the professional applications of different mind-tools like C5 concepts (Concentration, Calmness, Confidence, Contentment, Creativity), mindfulness concepts, and their effects on learning and human psychology.
  • To adapt global and interdisciplinary approaches, to understand the critical importance of developing the mind and its powers of concentration and self-awareness, making mind more innovative and productive, increasing awareness of individual and society for peace, health, wellbeing and co-operation.
  • To identify and assess problems in the relationship among people and social institutions for their resolution, and evaluate their outcomes.
  • To embrace the societal value of mental diversity and inspire the students to exemplify wisdom and compassion by practicing learning concepts based on research into immersive learning and mind-tools like mindfulness and C5 concepts.
  • To investigate and analyze the scientifically validated techniques to enhance each person’s capacity for self-care and self-awareness.
