Audio-haptics

Projektdetaljer

Beskrivelse

The main sense used when driving is sight; the strong focus on visual information on the dashboard has in general constantly being growing and designers are alert that this is a security hazard. The aim of this project is to provide alternative solutions in the design of interactions with a vehicle that take advantage of other sensory modalities, such as audition and touch.

Specifically, the project is interested in investigating how auditory and haptic feedback can be used to complement and substitute the information provided by visual feedback. The goal is to empower premium Volvo users with novel multimodal technologies without limiting their awareness of the driving situation. The result will be a prototype of a audio haptic feedback system for cars to be installed in a Volvo test car currently located in Sydhavn.
