Authentification of paintings

When determining the authenticity of a painting, art specialists usually studies  the hand of the artist. This is, however, a time consuming process and it is of interest to develop/improve techniques, that can perform (part of) this procedure automatically.
In this project we attempt to work towards a solution of the authentification problem by combining methods form applied harmonic analysis and statistics, namely (generalised) wavelet methods and hidden Markov models, respectively.
