Distributed localization in sensor networks

Projektdetaljer

Beskrivelse

Localization in sensor networks is the problem of estimating the positions of sensors in a network from other sensors with known positions and measurements between pairs of sensors, e.g. distance measurements. In distributed localization the sensors with unknown positions are using information obtained from each other cooperatively to obtain an estimate of their positions.

The research in this project deals with the development of various algorithms for estimating the positions of the sensors, where the sensors considered can be either stationary or mobile. The performance of these algorithms is tested by simulation experiments. Furthermore, various practically useful theoretic results are derived and used for assessing the simulations. Particular results achieved so far includes a simple and useful algorithm known as the iterated conditional modes algorithm adapted to localization and a lower bound on the estimation error for various estimators.
