The EEG is used to quantify painful sensory stimulus in somatosensory and visceral pain-models in order to gain more knowledge of the pain mechanism and the cortical reorganization under these conditions. Multi-channel EEG-recordings combined with advanced signal processing techniques are used to compare different conditions in normal controls and patients using topographic mapping and brain-source localization. Novel signal processing techniques (ICA etc.) are being implemented to identify the separate components in the brain responses.
