The aim of the project is to explore the relevance and potential application
of MUX6 for a future, high quality and countrywide public broadband
infrastructure.
The research involved addresses choice of technology platform (e.g. between
DVB-H/ digital TV, WiMAX, TETRA, 3G/ LTE) both in relation to communication
needs/ requirements on areas of high public interest and to techno-economic
efficiency. To cover these aspects the project will involve a pilot
implementation of a Public Safety and Emergency application and desktop
studies.
Based on a given technology (DVB-H with associated return channel) the pilot
will, explore the potentials and barriers in a specific application. The
desktop studies will discuss the relevance of the
general idea of a future, high quality and nationwide public broadband
infrastructure and the prioritised allocation of communication resources for
different application areas.
