    Beskrivelse

This study examines management capability to construct an administrative framework by combining co-ordination mechanisms in Manufacturing Joint Ventures. Partners' complementary resources are bundled together in a manufacturing value chain. Lack of transferable co-ordination mechanisms to support this bundling is a missing link to management's integrative performance of activities and processes. Management decision of formalisation, centralisation and socialisation as co-ordination mechanisms forms the administrative framework within which bundles of resources are exploited efficiently. In her famous book "The Theory of the Growth of the Firm", Penrose (1959(1995)) evolves pertinently that the construction or formation of a bundle of resources does not generate growth of the firm, but the managerial bundle of resources within the firm is determining the growth of the firm. This "Penrosian effect" is the research focus of this project. In the period 1 September - 31 December 2000 a scholarship was obtained at SCANCOR, Stanford University, California, USA. The PhD study is scheduled to be concluded in 2003. Supervisor: Hans-Henrik Hvolby. (Stig B. Taps)
