Technology Platforms is mainly involved in the Ultra Wide Band (UWB) technology which aims at providing from low to very high data rates while reducing the average transmitted power and providing robustness towards multi-path propagation. Using UWB technology makes the system implementation face high challenges. These challenges range from both circuit design to making integrated circuits. Some of the critical technical issues include obtaining high gain while maintaining high bandwidth, and integration of multi-standard RF systems while having low power consumption and low cost. An FM-UWB demodulator has been designed and a layout has been made for CMOS fabrication and the chip design has been submitted for publication. RISC is also involved in the training part of the MAGNET Beyond project.The project is funded by the European Union and MAGNET is a FP6 IP project.
