Ph.D. Projekt: The role of social practices in: product development of energy using products and transition management

My project is part of a strategic research alliance called ’Governing and Enabling Sustainable Transition Towards a Low Carbon Society’. I am more specifically connected to a sub-project on sustainable transition and innovation dynamics. In my project I will be looking at how and/or whether knowledge of social practice around the use of products is part of, and actively considered in product development. I will base my research on a number of case-products, all being energy-using products. I will among other things be looking at products and technologies for lighting.



I further want to investigate the possibilities for theory of social practice to be included in theories of transition management, or whether theory of social practice can be used as a main theory behind understanding the possibilities for, and mechanisms behind, sustainable transition - particularly related to transition of unsustainable consumption/user patterns.
