Sustainable business and demography: Exploring critical links between gender youth and small-scale business development in fisheries and tourism in South Greenland

The main aim of this project is to support sustainable business and demographic development in and for South Greenland by exploring and illuminating the role that local small-scale business operations play in creating a desirable and valuable business development for themselves and their community. Based on a) fieldwork the project will b) facilitate knowledge collaboration and dialog during a workshop in South Greenland c) and deliver reports and academic papers on the critical links between gender, youth and small-scale business development in
fisheries and tourism in South Greenland. The research includes four phases of qualitative and quantitative research. The theoretical framework focuses on value creation in small-scale businesses in tourism and fishing and it is studied and assessed as an integral part of the good life.
Expected results: the project will support the demographic situation and enhance sustainable economic development in South Greenland. It does so by engaging in knowledge collaboration with a focus on the formulation of ‘problems’ and solutions jointly with all collaboration partners and supporting innovation and diversification of small-scale business operations and livelihood options in the region that is sensitive to the different concerns and perspectives of men, women and youth.
