A sand site at the harbour of Frederikshavn, where numerous cone penetration tests (CPT) have been conducted, is considered. Methods for interpreting CPT´s and strength parameters are assessed, and compared to the results of a set of laboratory tests. The raw cone penetration measurements are scrutinised for data connected with physical or mechanical errors, and these are removed. Through a Bartlett similarity test of the corrected cone resistance the site is divided into sections of varying thickness. Each section is presented through a probability density function. As several CPT´s are performed at varying locations the correlation between these are compared. Thereby assessing how the correlation at the sand site is affected by spatial distances.
