title = "Collaborative Economy in Tourism in Latin America: The case of Argentina, Colombia, Chile and Mexico",
abstract = "This chapter addresses how fundamentally different rationales and structures underpin the collaborative phenomena in four different Latin American countries arguing that for centuries a range of economic, sociopolitical and cultural practices have been intimately linked to what Western societies have named the collaborative economy. Acknowledging the importance of Web 2.0, we will discuss how the digital technologies have brought about new collaborative consumption patterns and finally, we will address the question of whether the technology-induced collaborative economy can create new economic and sociocultural settings or if it propels or reproduces already existing ones.
