Abstract

Fractional-order repetitive control (FORC) has been demonstrated to be able to offer high control accuracy for active power filters (APFs) to compensate the harmonics even in the presence of wide range grid frequency variations. However, the online coefficient update mechanism of the FORC, which significantly influence the control precision, has not yet been carefully studied. In this paper, the effect of coefficient update mechanism on the performance of the FORC is investigated. It was found that the conventional coefficient update mechanism can cause the FORC performance degradation at some certain grid frequency ranges, such as 49.25Hz, 50Hz, 50.25Hz when control frequency is 10 kHz. Thus, a hysteresis based coefficient update method is proposed to solve this problem. A case study regarding parameters design and implementation is given in detail. Finally, experiment results validate the superiority of the proposed scheme.
