Abstract
It is impossible to keep the data secure and private when one can’t keep track of what they have, where it is and what its value is. After twenty years, Data protection Directive 95/46/EC (DPD) is finally phased out and replaced by General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This is a step towards the ongoing recognition of the value and importance of personal data. However, given the complexity and limited time frame for the implementation of the regulation brings many enterprises upside down and inside out as they implement change to bring themselves up to the standard required by the regulations. The purpose of this paper is to discuss new initiatives taken under new EU privacy regulation and to provide guidelines that will comply with GDPR.
