Abstract

The article presents seven poetic reflections on the experiences of raising a mixed family in present-day Denmark. They reflect on the existing practices of cultural appropriation, racialization, and marginalization in the everyday lives of children. STILLS challenge the common notion that current racializing practices in 'Denmark's kindergarten' are benign and innocent, by reflecting on the minute, every-day and often subtle ways children of colour and parents are affected by such. The writings presented here are based on personal encounters and experiences of the author, being a mother in a Danish-Canadian-Inuit-Anishinaabe family.
