GECEM Workshop: Quantitative Economic History and Open Science in China and Europe

Activity: Attending an eventOrganisation or participation in workshops, courses, seminars, exhibitions or similar

Description

The workshop aims to create a permanent forum on how global (economic) history has penetrated in China and Europe and the way scholars carry on their case studies on collecting data. The main issue of discussion is how scholars should conduct and quantify their research to analyse modern economic growth in China and Europe. Nowadays scholars confront universal problems such as getting access to funding, career development, as well as academic publications to make science open to big audiences which might help to solve current problems in our society. Such paramount issues are tackled in this workshop. The permanent dialogue and network among researchers, funding institutions and publishers seems fundamental. This workshop is organized by the GECEM (Global Encounters between China and Europe) project, sponsored by the ERC (European Research Council) - Starting Grant/Horizon 2020. Prof. Manuel Perez Garcia is the director of ERC-GECEM and associate professor at Renmin University of China. The University of Chicago-Center in Beijing and promoted by the EU Delegation in China and EURAXESS China.
