IIM-L ties up with Danish university to study innovative healthcare collaboration

Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIML) has entered into a collaboration with the Aalborg University, Denmark to begin a new research project on 'Innovative Healthcare Collaboration'. The research project will focus on identifying collaboration and coordination challenges to inter-organisational healthcare supply chain processes and innovative solutions to address those challenges both in India and Denmark. To begin with, a workshop will be held on May 9 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, which will have delegates from healthcare organizations like All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, King George's Medical University, Lucknow among others. The workshop will be inaugurated by ambassador of Denmark to India, Freddy Svane. Venkataramanaiah said that Indian and Danish hospitals provide two unique settings for studying innovative healthcare collaboration. Indian hospitals have to provide low cost care to large populations living in geographically big areas by pushing the boundaries of external collaboration while the Danish hospitals have to develop collaboration that involves other sectors like municipalities in order to, for example, provide care to an aging population with multiple chronic diseases. Researchers from the Center for Industrial Production, Aalborg University and the IIM-L who specialise in hospital collaboration and coordination and hospital operations management and supply chains respectively, will be part of the project.
