The Department of Communication is one of the 22 research departments at Aalborg University and belongs under the Faculty of the Humanities. The Department is established in 1986 and employs approx. 75 academics and 20 technical/administrative employees. The Department cooperates with the AV-laboratory and the computer processing division of the Faculty of the Humanities.

The Department carries out research within literature, languages, psychology, method reflection, philosophy & theory of science, media, interpersonal communication, humanistic computer science, organization and learning.

There are several research centres and other groups with a research based connection to the department:
