Organisation profile

The Section for Multimedia Information and Signal Processing (MISP) focuses its research and teaching activities on multimedia technologies, primarily speech, language, and audio, and the sciences that support them. We also study how to design and evaluate user interfaces using multimedia technologies.

The major research objective is to contribute to the development of improved multimedia information and signal processing systems (modalities: speech, text, audio and visual) for various applications, and to study the human interaction and usability of such systems.

To achieve this goal, a variety of research activities are set up ranging from fundamental/theoretical works over application driven algorithm design and implementation to end user testing.

MISP draw concepts from fields such as numerical linear algebra, optimization, statistics, signal processing, pattern recognition, machine learning, speech and language processing, software engineering, and usability engineering.
