The Traffic Research Group (TRG) consists of experts within traffic and roads.

TRG primarily works with:

  • traffic planning
  • traffic management
  • Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)
  • road safety
  • road construction and maintenance
  • public transportation in built-up and rural areas.

TRG also works with various parts of physical planning and development in rural and built-up areas. Main emphasis is on road safety and ITS.

Objectives within the road safety area are new approaches to detect dangerous road segments, study on the effect on road safety from various passive measures, and use of ITS to increase road safety.  Objectives within ITS are use of floating car data for analyses, traffic management and traffic services, bluetooth-based detection of traffic flows and eco-friendly driving.

Teaching

TRG provides research-based teaching to a number of educations at Aalborg University. These educations have traffic and road skills as primary or secondary target for each education.

Annual traffic conference

Each year TRG arranges the Annual Traffic Conference at Aalborg University. The conference was initiated in 1994 and it is now the biggest scientific-based traffic and transport conference in Denmark. In average, TRG receives 300 delegates each year from all over Scandinavia.
