Research profile

Mette Mechlenborg has more than ten years of experience in housing and build environment. As a researcher Mette Mechlenborg has a profound knowledge on homemaking, hominess and housing in a cross interdisciplinary research field from several positions at Southern University of Denmark, School of Design and Copenhagen University. She has a deep interest in theories on space,place, placeattachment and placemaking, especially Lefebvre. Her Ph.D. A Walk Around the Weber Grill is about the Danish suburban house in culture and collective memory, and was later published in internationally.

Additionally to her research career, Mette Mechlenborg has a great practical experience, first of all from her position as chief of research at BARK consultancy (2012-2016). Mette Mechlenborg has published 2 books and more than 30 articles on housing, home and everyday life. She has been enrolled in several networks, for example Centre for Housing and Welfare /Center for Housing Research 2006-2012, and is a well experienced lecturer.
