PhD, Associate Professor at the Center for History, Department of Culture & Global Studies, Aalborg University, Denmark. Secretary-General for the 29th Congress of Nordic Historians.

Currently working on a major research project on UNESCO's global impact, 1945-75, sponsored by the Danish Council for Independant Research (as part of its research career program Sapere Aude). Specializes in global history and cultural encounters, the history of international organizations, and the history of science, education and culture.


Visiting Scholar at Fudan University, Shanghai, China in 2012-2013 and at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC, USA in 2008. Long and short term stays at the United Nations Archives, UNESCO Archives, and at national archives, libraries and universities all over the world (China, Japan, India, Indonesia, Russia, Germany, South Africa, Ghana, USA and Brazil).

Guest lectures at several universities and research centers and papers presented at several international conferences, including at the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, UNESCO headquarters and École normale supérieure in Paris, the European University Institute in Florence, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (Russia), the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (Peru), as well as at the International Congress of Historical Sciences, the American Historical Association's Annual Meeting and the American Anthropological Association’s Annual Meeting.

Awards: History Book of the Year Award by the Danish History Council (2016), World Summit of Nobel Peace Price Laureates Award (2015), History Book of the Year Award by the Danish History Council (2013), Sapere Aude Research Career Program Award by the Danish Council for Independant Research (2013), and the Elite Research Scholarship by the Danish Ministry of Science (2007).
