Research profile

Sten Bønsing researches mainly in administrative law with a focus on the basic rules for all authorities. In recent years, he has, in particular, researched rules on civil servants' duties and responsibilities, and has, for example, published scientific articles on the basic duties of public servants (professional secrecy, the duty of truth, bribery, etc.) and sanctioning (criminal liability etc.)

Through his research, Sten Bønsing has also researched the rules of administrative law on case processing, personal data and data protection rules (for public authorities), disqualification, access to documents, gifts / bribery of public employees, etc.

Sten Bønsing has published a comprehensive presentation of the administrative law basic rules. The book covers all parts of the general administrative law, i.e. the public organization, competence, legal sources, case processing, substantive requirements (legal authority and misuse of powers), professional secrecy, recruitment / complaint handling, judicial review, ombudsman control, revocation of administrative acts, enforcement (administrative charge), the liability of public authorities and municipal authority.

Sten Bønsing is an expert in the rules on abuse of office and misuse of powers.

Teaching profile

Sten Bønsing is course responsible for administrative law at the Department of Law, Aalborg University. 

Sten Bønsing himself teaches general administrative law at the law and commercial law school and teaches at Aalborg University's MBA programme in basic principles of public law.

At times, he teaches administrative law at the political science programme (politics & administration).

Previously, Sten Bønsing has taught civil procedure and market and competition law.
