Personal profile
Research profile
My research expertise and interest lies within understanding and using music and art as a way to enhance and strenghten health for individuals and groups in all layers of society. Art and health is a growing field and we need more ground research as well as applied research to strengthen practice, research and education.
With a PhD within music therapy, my expertise is especially around vulnerable children, adolescents and families. I have developed the music therapy assessment tool "Assessment of Parent-Child Interaction" which has been implemented internationally both within practive and research settings.
Teaching profile
I teach assessment, improvisation, family & group work, Arts & Health and supervise student projects at the Music Therapy BA & MA programme and have done so since 2008. Specifically, I enjoy combinng theoretical and practical learning objectives and adhere to PBL learning didactics.
Administrative profile
Since 2022, I have been head of the Art, Aesthetic and Health section at the Department of Communication and Psychology holding responsibility to lead research and section researchers. I am part of the department leadership together with 5 other head of sections, the head of department, head of studies and head of administrative personal. For me taking individual pride and joy in working is essential for university work life to be sustainable and valuable. A strategic sense and a strong interdisciplinary network is likewise key to reaching both personal and groupbased goals.
PhD Supervision
I have supervised music therapy and psychology PhD students since 2016 both at AAU and internationally. I enjoy the rich adventures and aim to ensure student autonomy and student wellbeing as well as securing high standards in research education.
