Project Details

Description

The course module explores and applies architectural acoustics and creative robotics through early design processes and making of 1:1 prototype experiments. It integrates in this course; aspects of architectural acoustics, architectural robotics, architectural parametric design, architectural tectonics theory to study materiality, detailing and tectonic architectures.

The course module is structured in 3 phases across 3 weeks. First phase (1), initiates with an architectural-robotic based design exploration focused on the design and assembly of an element based structure. Second phase (2) focuses on an acoustic assemblies and s joinery/details of the elements internal structure and its relation to neighbouring elements. Third phase (3) applies the design of the element design in (1) and advanced through (2) to a robot-based manufacturing process. Knowledge of manufacturing constraints is also to be discussed in the previous phases.

The course module is focused on the aspects; tectonic architectural acoustics, design processes and computational methods for form making/detailing, form and material analysis and form manufacturing. In this effort, robotic and digital parametric models are central to create acoustic analysis, to develop multiple design proposals and to make physical 1:1 prototypes and final models based on advanced robot manufacturing processes.
