Audio-visual interaction in the assessment of sound quality

Project Details

Description

The sound quality of devices is becoming a strong marketing factor and for some years it has been realized that just reducing the overall level of machinery (for example a car engine or cleaning machine) is not quite enough. Therefore there is strong demand to evaluate sound quality attributes of devices and understand how much they can influence a user's overall perception of the device. A way to do this is to examine the full audio visual experience of the user and understand how cross-modality interaction could influence the overall perception. For the analysis of audio-visual interactions a test framework is developed including a laboratory setup and procedures for assessment of audio-visual and overall quality. Test cases are found within loudspeaker products.
