Cortical reorganization and plasticity associated to Functional Electrical Therapy

Project Details

Description

This project investigates the cortical behavior related to motor rehabilitation of patients through electrical stimulation of muscles and nerves. Electroencephalographic data are correlated to imaging studies, such as function magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), for understanding the effects of this therapy in the cortical organization. This information may also be used for the design and implementation of brain-computer interfaces with rehabilitative and/or therapeutic purposes (e.g. biofeedback).
