The research project is based on two issues and the object is to gather and analyse evidence-based knowledge which can support the common housing associations in Aalborg and other parties in their future discussion of municipal city- and housingpolitics, primarily linked to the suburbproblematic, based on the situation in  a typical Danish provincial suburb – Aalborg East.

The project consists of two parts and last 36 months. This will be conducted in close collaboration with the involved parties, not least the housing associations. One of the issues links to and is in short term a known problematic: - the lack of daily life in the suburb. Aalborg EastAalborg east is characterised by having fewer shoppingpossibilities, servicetrades and freetimeactivities than what is suggested by the size of the area. In the long run however, the contours of a different and more critical problematic, as a lack of input of future citizens, who moves to the neighbourhood out of want. To obtain a varied population that engages in the life of the neighbourhood can become the mayor challenge of this and other suburbs.
