Effects of over-exposure on the DPOAE fine structure

Project Details

Description

Similar to the project "DPOAE recovery from loud sound exposure" humans are exposed to a high-level sound causing a temporary shift in the hearing. DPOAEs are obtained before and after the exposure using a high frequency-resolution revealing the DPOAE fine structure (perdiodic level variations in frequency). The purpose was to investigate, how the DPOAE fine structure is affected by the over-exposure. The results show that for some subjects a change of fine structure (shift in frequency or change in fine structure depth) can be observed, while for others the fine structure remains unaffected after the exposure. The fine structure is generally not affected in one specific way, but individual differences exist. Supported by STVF/FTP.
