Project Details

Description

Together with Siemens Mobile Phones Development (Stig Blucher Brink), this project addresses the challenge of optimising quality performance for real-time packet based multimedia applications, introduced in GSM EDGE Radio Access Network (GERAN) enabled Mobile Devices. For such applications, packet based networks is the cause of impairments due to delay, packet loss, and delay jitter. Mainly, focus is on VoIP, were the potential of cross-layer optimisation is recognised to provide a broader range of quality performance indicators and functionalities for performance optimisation, compared to traditional intra-layer optimisation. Given the combined solution space, it is the objective of this project to seek new innovative optimisation methods, compliant with present and future 3GPP standards. The project is made in cooperation with Stig Blucher Brink from Siemens.
