Project Details

Description

POWER CLUSTER builds on already well intregrated transnational partnership offering a huge range of expertise - not only in offshore wind energy, but also in oil and gas and other related marine sectors. This will allow POWER CLUSTER to develop comprehensive approaches for the strategic challenges of the offshore wind energy industry in the North Sea Region (NSR).

The main aims are to make the NSR:

- a better place to live in, by reducing emissions and securing energy supply, as well as informing people and raising awareness about the positive impacts of offshore wind energy (including environmental concerns and job creation effects),

- a better place to work in, by tackling the impacts of demographicchange in the different regions, reintegrating unemployed and/or senior labour force, securing and creating jobs in areas in industrial decline and restructuring,

- a better placeto invest in and export from, by simulating the growth of the offshore wind industry, which will support maintaining its world leading role in this future oriented and innovative sector, triggering inward and outward investments.

By connecting different sectors and different levels of government and administration, POWER CLUSTER will concentrate its activities to further strengthen and facilitate the partnership, moving the cooperation from a network to sustainable offshore wind cluster. Innovation and learning within the cluster will be enhanced. The combined parts of the supply chain will allow wider economic decelopment to take place through a series of multiplier effects in income, employment, research and productivity performance.
