Description

Future communication systems put high emphasis on converging of various different communication standards while also offering high data rates at low power consumption.
One major contender for new types of communication is OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) combined with MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) techniques. The project focus on the RF front-end of wireless terminals, which is the part placed between the antenna and the base-band. Thus the project will focus on modeling and evaluation of the performance degradation to OFDM/MIMO communication due to imperfections in the RF transceiver, and on how to make efficient transceiver architectures to alleviate some of the critical issues. Also, co-existence of different OFDM modulated signals will be considered as well as making flexible transceiver architectures, which can be used for different standards while at the same time being robust and power efficient.
