The goal of the project is to promote Denmark's future position in transport, especially in North Jutland and Central Jutland, by focusing on developing components and technologies for the electric cars of the future.

The partners in the project will create an overview of the technologies and patents that are of importance in the market and reported in the literature. Subsequently, researchers and the many industrial partners in Jutland will decide how best to work towards improved solutions for electric cars.

A major task is to develop a competitive high-efficiency drive system, i.e. an electric motor providing power on the shaft, adapted to the wheels, and an associated power electronic controller that are optimized for the task. The project will also analyze potential and possible implementations for the vehicle’s future incorporation in the power system as a form of energy storage in an advanced interaction with wind turbines. Furthermore, during the course of the three-year project period, a special electric car test station will be built at the Technological Institute in Aarhus.

The project consists of 12 work packages:

1. Project Management and coordination

2. State-of-the-art analysis

3. High-efficiency traction systems

4. Model development and energy optimized use of batteries

5. Boost charge of batteries

6. Energy control and optimization

7. Thermal design and management

8. Range extender

9. Integration and synergy with the power system

10. Realisation of prototype

11. Test systems for future certification of components

12. Planning of demonstration project
