Project Details

Description

The WINNER project is an IP/IST-project funded under the 6th FWP (Fifth Framework Programme). The project develops a ubiquitous radio system concept that is based on a common radio interface that will adapt to user needs and scenarios by use of different modes of a common technology. The concept provides a significant improvement compared to current systems in terms of performance, efficiency, coverage and flexibility. At the same time it makes efficient use of the radio spectrum to minimize the cost-per-bit by combining the technologies researched in an efficient way. It can be realized through cost competitive infrastructure and terminals. CTIF's role in the project is to evaluate usage scenarios from and economical and technical point of view and to derive and evaluate performance requirements for the defined scenarios. Another role of CTIF within the project WINNER is to identify and evaluate/validate suitable cooperation mechanisms to be supported by cooperation architecture to ensure seamless cooperation between the WINNER system and legacy systems.
