Case Study for Breakwater SSG Application
Publication: Research › Report
The work present preliminary estimations on SSG performance on breakwaters in 3 different locations, namely: Swakopmund 6m water depth, Swakopmund 11,3 m water depth in Namibia and Sines, in Portugal. The locations have been decided based on different parameters by DMC (report number 952350-rap-u-005, April 2008). The optimization of the structure has been done by maximizing the hydraulic efficiency and used by DMC for relative study on construction and installation. The overall efficiencies have been assessed using the simulation program SSG Power Simulation 2 (Meinert 2006) and used by DMC for economic analysis. By comparing performance results from the different locations, an attempt of investigating the influence of different parameters on SSG performance has been made.
