N2 - The aim of the present work is to solve the initial moving wall problem for a layer of fluid with the help of the finite difference method. Special attention will be paid to the explanation of singularity in the velocity field which results from approximation to the mathematical description of the phenomenon rather than from physical background. We will also discuss some properties of algebraic equations resulting from the method of solving the problem. In the following we apply some necessary approximations and we consider some auxiliary problems which will hopefully finally result in the solution we are looking for.
