Abstract

Operational remote sensing in the terahertz region is possible only in discrete atmospheric 'windows', without the strong water vapour absorption. To increase the signal-to-noise ratio and detection sensitivity, we design and test a selection of resonant antennas, tuned to the water vapour transmission windows in the region below 2THz. The outcome is a transparent optimisation of antennas for remote sensing.
