Abstract
This paper analyses the information society visions put forward by the governments/administrations of the Nordic countries and compares them to the visions advanced at the EU-level. The paper suggests that the information society visions constitute a kind of common ideology for almost the whole political spectrum although it is characterized by a high degree of neo-liberal thinking. It is further argued that there is no distinctly Nordic model for an information society.
