Abstract
The Latin American continent is currently situated between the pressure from neo-liberal policies and the emergence of new social movements, between the desire of state sovereignty and the strength of the market, between a search for identity and the weight of the US foreign policy. These dichotomies makes the situation interesting, since Latin America is simultaneously experiencing a moment of possibilities as well as limitations.
