Abstract

Life cycle assessment (LCA) benchmarking of buildings is highly relevant in certain contexts of building sector practice, for instance in certification schemes or regulation. This study aims at developing a preliminary set ofLCAreference values to serve as benchmarks for the Danish construction sector. We analyze the
embodied impacts set against the operational impacts of 16 office buildings. We discuss the different approaches to derivation of life cycle benchmarks and identify critical points of attention for the future work with derivation
of benchmarks for Danish buildings.
