N2 - The present outline on tensor calculus with special application to differential theory of surfaces and dynamics represents a modified and extended version of a lecture note written by the author as an introduction to a course on shell theory given together with Ph.D. Jesper Winther Stærdahl and Professor Lars Vabbersgaard Andersen in 2007, based on the book of (Niordson, 1985). The text is written with inspiration from both mathematical based texts on tensor calculus, such as the books of (Spain, 1965) and (Synge and Schild, 1966), and the more geometrical based interpretation often used in continuum mechanics, (Malvern, 1969).
