Abstract

The power system of the ship has less production capacity and inertia compared to large power systems and it behaves like a microgrid. In addition, in ship systems, pulse and dynamic loads absorb most of the capacity, which cause a severe fluctuation in the frequency and voltage of the power system. The topological structures of the network and control system are main factors affecting the stability of the power system of ships. Pulse power loads (PPLs) are very critical in the performance of the ship due to the safety of the system, which consists of electromagnetic weapons, radars, aircraft launch systems, and so on. Energy storage systems (ESSs) are used to decrease the fluctuations of the DC link voltage and adding more reliability to the system. Hence, in this paper, an interval type-2 fuzzy controller (IT2FC) is employed in order to improve the DC link voltage behavior as a robust and an intelligent control technique. Simulation results of the model are presented by Simulink/Matlab software to validate the proposed control technique.
