    Abstract

This contribution to the work package 7, gender report, is an analysis of the media data gathered as a part of the EUROSPHERE project. The analysis is meant to provide an overview of some quantitative characteristics
of the EUROSPHERE media data set, with a specific focus on the first two elements of the gender action plan, namely the questions “where are the women?” and “gendering as a process”. The analysis of the media data indicates that discussions about gender and gender policy do not seem to be one of the priority issues on the European public agenda, which could be one of the pre-conditions for the formation of a European public sphere.
