Abstract

The impact of a wind farm’s internal structures on harmonic emission at the point of common coupling and on the whole system frequency characteristic is investigated in this paper. The largest wind farms in the world, Horns Rev 2 Offshore Wind Farm and Polish Karnice Onshore Wind Farm, are thoroughly analyzed. Different wind farm configurations are taken into consideration in order to entirely describe phenomena associated with harmonics. Some aspects of wind farm modelling for harmonic studies are also presented in this paper. The simulation results are compared with measurement data in order to validate modelling accuracy.
