What happens when we move fieldwork online? In this talk Associate Professor Malene Charlotte Larsen from Aalborg University, Denmark, will talk about her 10 years of experiences with conducting fieldwork on the internet - especially on social network sites used by young people.

Malene will talk about how different both online and offline methods - such as informal conversations, interviews and qualitative surveys - can be integrated as part of the fieldwork and how these approaches might reveal otherwise untold stories in relation to online youth practices.

During the talk Malene will reflect upon the role of the researcher and ethical challenges in relation to fieldwork on the net.
