Content of the course: This two day course offers the participant intensive hands-on training in lecturing in English. On the morning of day 1, you will be introduced to a range of theories and practical tips to improve your skills in using English as a Lingua Franca for oral presentations. Here, the emphasis is on strategy and tactics for ‘non-native’ presenters rather than on the language in its own right. In the afternoon session, each participant will deliver a prepared 10 minute oral presentation on an assigned topic and will receive intensive feedback from the instructor and other participants. The morning of day 2 is devoted to exercises intended to improve oral English skills, with part of the session used to improve pronunciation. In the afternoon, there will be an opportunity to make a final 20 minute oral presentation of your own research. Again, you will receive detailed feedback on your performance.
