Beskrivelse

The pandemic has not silenced right-wing extremists. Experts warn, for instance, that the current demonstrations against Anti-Corona-measures in Germany could be used to increase support for right-wing extremist ideas. Last year saw an increase in the number of executed and averted right-wing extremist terrorist attacks– for example with the massacres in Hanau and Halle as well as the thwarted attempts in Oslo and Denmark. The attacks are interrelated. The perpetrators of the Halle and Hanau attacks for instance claimed to be inspired by among others Anders Behring Breivik. These examples show that Right-wing extremists are increasingly working in international networks, exchanging views and ideas and spreading information across borders.
Join us for the second exchange in a series of online exchanges with the aim to strengthen ties between anti-right-wing civil society actors in the Nordics and Germany and in the long-term establish a Nordic-German expert network. How has the political discourse and debate culture been influenced by the radical right? How has the political middle (NGO:s, opinion-formers and mainstream political parties – left, middle and right) handled the challenge of the radical right?
