Why is it that some persons with dementia don't remember the names of their own children, but they can sing one old song after the other? In the workshop Professor Dr. Hanne Mette Ridder from the Doctoral Programme in Music Therapy at Aalborg University will present the latest research on music therapy and dementia, and on music and the brain. She will describe clinical practice as well as music therapy methods and techniques, and illustrate with video material. In addition, she will present ways of documenting and assessing music therapy sessions with persons with dementia, and will particularly put a focus on the integration of music therapy in a person centered dementia care.
